We are planning for my nieces wedding to be elegant and we are doing a candy buffet.
The candy will all be in the colors of the wedding....gold, raspberry pink and cream, and there will be about 18 different jars of candy.
The question I have is:
Should the jars be labeled as to the type of candy in them or not?
I don't want to take away from the pretty look of things by adding paper labels, etc.
The reason I even think of adding labels is that some of the candy is different and people might want to know what it is.
Ex....the cream colored balls are sour balls , oh and these sweet candies I found.......champagne bubbles!
How fun would a label with that on it! :)
Anyway....still trying to make a decision.

I am sure if you had fancy labels, it would look great and not take away. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

I saw a cool Menu Card done for a wedding candy bar. It was really neat. They printed the date and such then added the candies underneath and placed in a nice frame.
Just a nice alternative to labels!

Yes, you should do pretty labels, you don't want to waste your goodies if guests pick up something they later won't eat, due to taste or allergies.
I can't eat stuff with coconut, and how sad would I be if I picked up a chocolate candy all excited, and it turned out to be an Almond Joy? Well, I personally would just lick off the chocolate and throw out the rest. See? :)
I did the candy bar at my wedding and had labels on the huge glass jars tied on with ribbon. It added to the overall look.
I agree with Not Just a Mommy. Labels or a menu card are a more than a courtesy. My daughter has such a severe peanut allergy that my husband and I cannot eat nuts and be around her. If I picked something up and didn't know it had nuts and brought it home (which is a nut-free zone) the repercussions could be tragic. I don't mean to sound melodramatic, but I couldn't respond fast enough when I read your post. When we don't see what something is we walk away and the point of a dessert table is to have people walk away happy. I think nice labels with a border or more interesting outer design could be beautiful. I like the idea above about adding ribbon too. Just my two cents. Good luck with the wedding! I like labels... I think you are right, people want to know what it is they are getting. I would be less likely to partake in something that was not labels. I think it looks nice also.
Labels are very helpful, and they add a special touch of pretty to your buffet!
